A little fib on your CV won't hurt will it?

A recent poll by interviewgold.com found that more than half of candidates would tell lies on their CV or in an interview in order to land a job offer. This just shows how tough the job market really is when jobseekers would even consider resorting to such desparate measures.

Joe McDermott, CEO of interviewgold.com, commented that these figures have risen over the last few years and illustrate just how much pressure applicants feel in the job market. “They are setting themselves up for problems in the future; if they are found out they could face serious consequences.”

The online poll also found that for 58% of people, their greatest fear would be to clam up in the hot seat. However if you do your research and complete sufficient preparation for your interview, you can breeze through this final stage of the interview process:

• Know your prospective employer inside out. Study the job description and person specification as well as any literature and of course visit their website.
• Perfect your communication skills. You will be selling yourself and your skills so clear and concise communication is vital.
• Give evidence of your skills. If you have completed a project give evidence to show the results. Better still, take brochures or reports to prove your boasts.
• Don't forget to present yourself like a winner. It makes all the difference.
